nine.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preservers.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Today is nine years.
Today is nine years.
When I think about the journey nine years has brought us in our marriage it's sometimes gets overwhelming. Two imperfect people join together to become one imperfect couple. The cliche is to say "it's been the best nine years of my life and I can't wait to spend another 100 with you" but to be honest its been the hardest, most amazingly difficult thing to ever commit to.
But so worth it.
The bond two people have in a marriage is so spiritual that no one else on the planet can feel. The space that lives between those two people is dynamic and miraculously singular that no one else will ever experience it.
No other couple has what you have.
No other couple will feel what you feel.
No other couple lives in that quiet, vibrational space that joins the two of you together.
What I have discovered over the short time of nine years connected with this space of feeling between us is this.
What you put in, you get out.
If you fill that bond with love but also with selfishness and resentfulness your output of what you in-turn receive will be just that given to you in only the way that you know can effect your heart. But, if you put in self-LESS-ness and submission and trust you in-turn will receive that in only the way your heart knows how.
So when I read the scripture in 1 Corinthians on our special day, I strive to replace the words love with Heather and the word it with she. Because what I want to give out of self in the next 100 years is love and trust and faith into the space between us that only we know.
